Der Ausbruch des 2. Weltkrieges brachte eine grosse Nachfrage nach zweir\u00e4drigen Fahrzeugen, die nicht nur schlechte Behandlung und raues Gel\u00e4nde \u00fcberleben, sondern auch noch einfach zu fahren und zu reparieren sein sollten. Die WLA, basierend auf dem Zivilmodell WL, erf\u00fcllte diese Anforderungen perfekt. Zusammen mit dem WLC-Modell, das f\u00fcr die Kanadische Armee gebaut wurde und sich nur in Kleinigkeiten von der WLA unterschied, baute Harley-Davidson \u00fcber 80\u2018000 dieser Modelle f\u00fcr den Alliierten Kriegseinsatz davon gingen 26670 nach Russland und einige wurden mit Seitenwagen wie diesen hier ausger\u00fcstet.<\/p>\n

Das robuste seitengesteuerte WLA Motorrad war das erfolgreichste jemals gebaute Motorrad. Sie wird bei uns in Europa auch liebevoll \u201eThe Liberator\u201c genannt.<\/p>\n

Da Harley die WLA in riesiger St\u00fcckzahl f\u00fcr\u2018s Milit\u00e4r produzierte, sind diese Motorr\u00e4der relativ h\u00e4ufig in Oldtimer Kreisen zu finden. Obwohl Einige noch im Originalzustand sind wie diese hier, haben viele Besitzer ihr Motorrad \u201ezivilisiert\u201c, indem sie es anders lackiert und auf die Milit\u00e4rzutaten verzichtet haben.<\/p>\n
