Der Motor und die Mechanik sind revidiert. Obwohl die WLA ein gutes Allzweck-Milit\u00e4rmotorrad war, erbat die US-Army von Harley Davidson eine Kardanmaschine. Harley wandte sich in Richtung des Feindes, um Ideen zu bekommen. Die BMW R11 wurde tats\u00e4chlich kopiert. Eine Testreihe von 1000 XA Maschinen wurden hergestellt, ebenso eine Prototypreihe von Indian Kardanmaschinen (siehe Indian Modell 841). Es war so geplant, dass die bessere der Maschinen in grosser St\u00fcckzahl von der Armee bestellt werden sollte. Keines der beiden Motorr\u00e4der entsprach den Vorstellungen der US-Army, welche stattdessen den Willys-Jeep als Frontfahrzeug bevorzugte, aber auch weitere WLA Motorr\u00e4der bestellte, und so das kurze Leben der XA beendete.
